About the Department of Statistics

Department of Statistics's team includes researchers specializing in the theory and practice of data analysis. Alongside the discussion of these researchers are engaged in research under the guidance of graduate students study at various stages, teaching courses in statistics class students and students outside the class. Why Should You Learn Statistics?

Statistics is an ideal field of study in combination with any other area where required for research, data analysis, and conclusions. Statistics and ability for independent analysis of data is an essential resource for any professional career in competitive fields. Statistics voters as an occupation guaranteed a varied career that would reflect the enormous diversity of areas in need of tools that science statistics suggest. Voters in other businesses, any other activity, good training in statistics and data analysis will be used as double power and facilitate success in the field they choose to engage.

The training of almost every practical or research field taught at university requires basic courses in statistics. A significant number of these courses is taught by teachers from the Department of Statistics. Therefore, we can testify that the basic ability for analysis of complex data that characterize the modern world requires thorough qualifications rather than those acquired by the basic courses. Such advanced courses are avialbe from the Statistics Department.

In addition to general training in the field, the Department of Statistics has designated several training programs:

A degree with focus on Actuary and Risk Management:

The Department of Statistics offers preparatory courses for the qualification tests of the Society of Actuaries in Israel during bachelor degree  The department's students are eligible to take the qualification tests of the Society of Actuaries through the "Magid" institute from the Hebrew University. Students completing first degree with the preparatory courses are recognized as bachelors of statistics with emphasis on risk management and Actuary.

Master's fast track:

The Department of Statistics has been offering a track for students with high grades that allows completion of the first and second degree together within a period of four years. Admission takes place at the end of the first year and based on the scores for required courses of freshmen in statistics.

Transition to second year in Economics:

Courses in the first year of statistics are closely related to those taught in Economics, and so completing first year with grades enables students who wish to - to transition to second year  economics students.
