Open Faculty Positions

The Department of Statistics of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for an anticipated opening of a tenure-track position in data science at all levels, beginning either in the 2019-20 academic year  or the 2020-21 academic year. Both senior and junior outstanding applicants, including those about to receive their Ph.D. degree, are encouraged to apply.

Applications should have a PhD degree in statistics or other quantitative field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering) with a research orientation towards analysis of big and/or complex data. Candidates are expected to have a strong interest and a track record in research, outstanding academic credentials, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education. Postdoctoral research experience is highly recommended, although we will consider exceptional candidates without postdoctoral experience. Experience or interest in big data social science applications is a plus. Since the language of instruction at the Hebrew University is Hebrew, only candidates who have a working knowledge of the language, or intend to acquire one within a reasonably short time, will be considered.

The Department of Statistics comprises 11 regular faculty members with a wide range of research interests, and administers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. programs in applied statistics, mathematical statistics, biostatistics and operations research. Joint undergraduate programs exist with various other departments such as Economics, Business, Psychology and a new program with Computer Sciences.
